Special Care Dentistry

The Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH) at A.T. Still University is proud to offer comprehensive special care dentistry for patients with intellectual, physical, and emotional disabilities, and other special healthcare needs including immunocompromised patients. Our special care suites, located at both our Mesa and Glendale dental clinics, are fully prepared with necessary equipment and specially trained providers to deliver compassionate dental care at affordable prices.

Services in our special care suites include, but are not limited to: exams, cleanings, sealants, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, periodontal therapy, dental implants, laser therapy, digital x-rays, and in-office sedation. We also have motorized wheelchair lifts at both locations to help make our special care patients more comfortable during treatment.

The special care dental services in our clinics are under the supervision of Maureen Romer, D.D.S., M.P.A., director of Special Care Dentistry. Dr. Romer is a fellow of the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, and is board certified in special care dentistry. Treatment at both clinics is provided by student doctors who have trained at ASDOH for three years or more for a career in dentistry. Student doctors are under the direct supervision of ASDOH faculty who are all licensed dentists with extensive special care dentistry experience.

Because we are a university-affiliated dental clinic, our fees are very reasonable. Anyone is welcome at our clinic – there are no income qualifications necessary to take advantage of our services.
